4 things you can do to organise your home today that won't cost you a cent!

I'm back and talking about all things organising, but this time I am keeping in mind the cost aspect of organising. Whilst organising your home it can be free but it can also be costly. Here are my top tips on how you can organise your home for free.

1. OUT OF DATE ITEMS

Go through the areas in your home that have items that expire, it’s time to cull them and get rid of them... Normally when you have an item that’s out of date it’s because you haven’t used it in a long time or it’s gotten lost. Places to start, Kitchen, fridge, pantry, medicine cupboard, bathroom vanity, make up.

2. CULL YOUR WARDROBE

Being organised doesn’t mean you have to be minimalistic. It just means that you know where everything is and it creates calm to your chaos.

When organising your wardrobe my top tips are; pull everything out of your wardrobe so you have a clean canvas to work with. Create 3 piles items to keep, items to throw away & items to donate or gift to friends. Then place items back in categories or piles to ensure they stay with their friends. Then label, always label! This is the part that holds you accountable to put things back where they belong.

What can you label with? A piece of paper and a pen taped down, a post it note. Anything that doesn’t cost you a cent!

3. PAPERWORK & RECEIPTS

This one is probably one a lot of people don’t invest a lot of time in. The life admin stuff that doesn’t seem important until its tax time.

Ok well, if you set up a system to begin with guess what? It’s pretty easy to maintain.

How I organise my paperwork; I use a large plastic tub (you could use a spare cardboard box or shoe box) that has files in side that I can sort into categories. Anything that I can digitalise I will, even if it means contacting the electricity company to get them to email me the bill instead I absolutely will.

4. LINEN CUPBOARD

Linen cupboards can be overwhelming. Where do you begin, begin by making sure you don’t have too many items for your families needs. We are a family of four and I have approx. 12 towels in total with 4 in use at all times.

When organising your linen cupboard my top tips are; pull everything out of your space so you have a clean canvas to work with.
